Divisional Play

The Tigers took on Penn this past weekend for a four game series in the Ivy South Divisional play.  Penn was able to complete the upset sweep, winning a pair of close games on Friday and following with another pair of wins on Sunday.  Princeton drops to 4-8 in league, behind Penn (6-6) and Cornell (7-5) and ahead of Columbia (3-9). 

Lizzy Pierce '13

In game one, Penn got on the board first scoring a run in the bottom of the 4th.  The Tigers answered back in the 6th with a 2 out Lizzy Pierce 2 RBI single.  However, they saw their lead vanish after Penn got 3 hits and took advantage of a few Tiger miscues to score 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th.  The side was retired in the top of the 7th, leaving Princeton with the 4-2 loss. 

Kelsey VandeBergh '12

It was Penn striking first again in game two with a run in both the 3rd and 5th innings.  Candy Button lead off the top of the 6th with a single to left field.  Kelsey VandeBergh followed with her third single of the day.  Button and VandeBergh moved into scoring position following a Penn error.  Alex Peyton grounded out to second base to score Button and make it a 2-1 game.  The Tigers missed their opportunites for the come from behind win, stranding a runner in scoring position in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings.

Nicole Ontiveros '12

The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game three with a Nicole Ontiveros RBI single in the 2nd inning and VandeBergh scored on a wild pitch in the 3rd.  Penn took advantage of a Tiger error in the 4th inning to tie it up 2-2.  In the 6th, the Quakers added 5 more runs via a walk, hit batter, and another error.  It was another tough loss for the Tigers as they out-hit Penn and left 9 runners on base.

Alex Peyton '13

In game four, the 3-3 and 2-4 performances by Peyton and Ontiveros respectively were not enough to push the Tigers past Penn.  The Quakers scored 5 runs in the first two innings off of just 3 hits, taking a 5-1 lead.  Penn added 3 more runs in the 4th and one in the 6th.  The Tigers were only able to score one more run in the 6th, falling way short, 9-2.
