The Tigers started off the Maryland Round Robin dropping a close one to Kent State, 9-7 in 8 innings on Friday morning. After giving up a run in the 1st inning, the Tigers punched back with a run of their own after Nicole Ontiveros led off with a double and Kelsey VandeBergh singled her in. Princeton took a 2-1 lead in the 4th inning off of Cara Worden's solo home run. The Tigers then gave up 4 runs total between the 5th and 6th innings. The Tigers rallied back in the bottom of the 7th. Singles by Ontiveros, Alyssa Schmidt and Rachel Rendina laoded the bases. Alex Peyton came up next with a 2 RBI single then Maddie Cousens followed with an RBI single to tie it up 5-5. The game then went to an international tie-breaker in the 8th and Kent State was able to put up 4 runs. The Tigers were only able to rally for 2 runs, coming up just short.

Princeton took on host Maryland in their second game. The Terrapins scored a run in the 2nd inning off of one hit and an error. The Tigers responded with 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Ontiveros led off with a double and Schmidt reached on an error. VandeBergh followed with an RBI single and then Cousens drew a walk to load the bases. Peyton then came up with a sacrifice RBI and Worden followed with an RBI single to put the Tigers up 3-1. Maryland added 1 run in the 4th before exploding for 5 runs in the 5th off of 4 hits and 2 Tiger errors to take a 7-3 lead, which proved to be enough for the win.

The Tigers faced Rhode Island in their first game today and were able to jump out to a 3-0 lead off a Peyton 3 run home run. The Rams answered back with 1 run in the 2nd and 2 runs to tie it up in the 3rd, and then added 2 runs in each the 5th and 6th innings to take a 7-3 lead. The Tigers were only able to muster up one run in the bottom of the 7th off an Ontiveros RBI single, making the final score 7-4.

The Tigers played Maryland for the second time this afternoon and were able to jump out to another early lead. Ontiveros led off with a walk and Schmidt followed with a single. VandedBergh then drew a walk to load the bases for Peyton, who blasted a grand slam over the right field wall to put the Tigers up 4-0. Princeton was able to hold Maryland to just 1 run in the 2nd, as starter Meredith Brown got out of a bases loaded jam. The Tigers added 1 run in the 3rd off a bases loaded walk to Worden and another run in the 4th from a Nikki Chu RBI double to oush their lead to 6-1. The Terrapins then began to chip away, scoring 2 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings off of 6 hits to cut the Tiger lead to 6-5. Maryland then followed with a 5 run 6th inning to put the Tigers away 10-6. Brown gave up 8 hits and 5 runs in 4 innings of work before turning the ball over to Liza Kuhn who gave up 5 runs while striking out 3 and taking the loss.

The Tigers close out the Maryland Round Robin tomorrow against Rhode Island at 11 am.
